FREE EARLY CHILDHOOD PLAYDATES RETURN TO KENTUCKY SCIENCE CENTER PRESENTED BY GE APPLIANCES, A HAIER COMPANY

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – JEFFERSON COUNTY AND SURROUNDING AREAS – Beginning in February, the popular program for young children, Playdates, is returning to Kentucky Science Center with new dates set through the end of 2018. Playdates are free to the community thanks to generous underwriting from GE Appliances, a Haier Company.

Playdates are designed to increase kindergarten-readiness and foster educational experiences in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (S.T.E.M.) for children ages 0-4 and their caregivers. Playdates incorporate the Science Center’s first floor early childhood learning experience Science in Play with monthly themes, introducing ways for caregivers, parents, and teachers to continue the exhibit’s experiences at home or in the classroom.

GE Appliances has been a long-time supporter of S.T.E.M. education activities through its support of the Kentucky Science Center. “The first five years of a child’s life are a time of enormous social, emotional, physical and intellectual growth,” said John Ouseph, Executive Director, Software, GE Appliances and KSC Board Member.

“For children to grow into successful adults, they need a supportive and healthy early foundation. Given that nearly 50% of the children in the Louisville community are not prepared to enter kindergarten ready to learn, and that children who start out behind tend to stay behind, we proudly support and encourage participation in early-childhood learning programs like Playdates”.

Playdates are hosted on-site at Kentucky Science Center on the third Thursday of the month from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM through December 2018.
