MakerPlace Workshops

Tinker, hack, design, and build – the Maker movement empowers the next generation of inventors and the MakerPlace gives them the tools to explore their creative ideas. Workshops are designed for ages 8 or older.

The MakerPlace Schedule:

  • Sunday – Thursday: 11:00am – 4:00pm
  • Friday & Saturday: 11:00am – 3:00pm & 4:00pm – 7:00 pm

Skill Building: Challenge

Put your problem-solving skills to the test with this engineering challenge. We'll present a problem and you design a solution!

This experience is free with exhibit admission, and does NOT include a take-home.

Let’s Make a Thing Workshop: DIY Valentine’s Day Gift!

Join us in making a gift for yourself or your favorite valentine! We have your whole gift covered. Start with candle making and end with a special keepsake box with your own flair!

Skill Building: Sewing

Sewing is a skill everyone should know how to do. In this free skills session, you will learn and practice the art of hand sewing. Explore the Whip and Henson stick and how they are used to patch clothing or create anything you would like!

Let’s Make a Thing Workshop: Nail String Art

This art form is an amazing combination between woodworking and textile work. Participants will pick out or make their own pattern to turn into an amazing keep sake that you can hang up in your room at home.

Skill Building: Power Tools

Have you ever used a power drill or saw? It is free skills session, participants will practice how to use power tools in a practical and safe way. Note, safety instructions will be included.

Let’s Make a Thing Workshop: Heat tools

This workshop is a mash up off activities you can do with a heat gun. Choose between decorating a candle, melting plastic to create a flower, tiny drawing, and more!

Skill Building: Soldering

Soldering is used for the development of all electronics. Practice and learn the importance of soldering in technology and the real world.

Let’s Make a Thing Workshop: DIY Dog Toy

Add on to your Dog Days celebration with this unique workshop! Participants will make their own dog toy for their favorite four-legged friend.

Skill Building: Paper folding/ cutting

The possibilities with paper are endless! Paper is a unique and over looked maker skill. We will be folding and cutting paper into unique patterns.
