MakerPlace Workshops

Tinker, hack, design, and build – the Maker movement empowers the next generation of inventors and the MakerPlace gives them the tools to explore their creative ideas. Workshops are designed for ages 8 or older.

Let’s Make a Thing: Blinky Bots

Test and develop your soldering skills with a fun basic circuit experience. Participants will make a wearable pin that lights up! No prior soldering experience is required.

This is a paid experience with a take-home element.

Members: $15 for the first child, $10 per additional child.
Non-Members: $25 for the first child, $15 per additional child.
Plus sales tax where applicable. Pricing includes Exhibit admission, one Adult admission.

Time: 10:00-11:00 A.M., 1:00-2:00 P.M.

A completed liability waiver is required for participation in this workshop, as well as a minimum 1:2 adult-to-child ratio (exception for Girl Scout troops).

 

 

Skill Building: Soldering

Soldering is used for the development of all electronics. Practice and learn the importance of soldering in technology and the real world.

This experience is free with exhibit admission, and does NOT include a take-home.

Let’s Make a Thing: Plastic Fusing

In this workshop you will learn the art of Plastic fusing. We will teach you the technique and then let your creativity take the lead. You can make anything from kites to jewelry.

This is a paid experience with a take-home element.

Circuits have ingrained themselves in our everyday lives. This workshop will help participants build up a basic understanding of circuitry.

Get ready for the holidays and explore paper circuits by creating your own unique electric greeting card. It will be sure to impress your friends and family as it lights up the holiday season!

Start your year off with a challenge and participate in building of your own circuit game. You will be able to challenge your friends with your fun new game.
