Future S.T.E.M. Professionals Summits offer middle and high school students a look into their future

Formerly called “Youth Science Summits,” Future S.T.E.M. Professionals Summits are the premier college prep events of the summer

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – LOUISVILLE AND SURROUNDING AREAS – Kentucky Science Center’s classic career-focused event returns on June 16th for its eighth year, this time with a new name: the Future S.T.E.M. Professionals Summit. Future S.T.E.M. Professionals Summits are day-long conference-like events offering teens the opportunity to meet and interact with real industry professionals in science, technology, engineering, or math fields through lab experiences and face-to-face mentoring.

The Louisville Future S.T.E.M. Professionals Summit offers four tracks: two tracks for high schoolers, a middle school co-ed track, and a middle school girls’ track. Each track offers a different experience, from a visit to the Cardiovascular Innovation Institute to a Bluegrass Creek Canoe trip. Both high school tracks include speed mentoring sessions with local professionals, while each middle school track includes SKYPE sessions with NASA scientists.

”The Future S.T.E.M. Professionals Summit is an outstanding opportunity for any teen interested in learning more about the myriad careers that rely on S.T.E.M. education,” said Kentucky Science Center Chief Programs Officer, Kim Hunter. “Career opportunities in S.T.E.M. fields just continue to grow, and we offer students the chance to learn more about options. If they’re interested in medicine but don’t see themselves as a doctor, for example, what else can you do within these fields? This program helps open those doors.“

Registration for the Future S.T.E.M. Professionals Summit in Louisville is $45 for general public and $40 for Science Center members. Each ticket includes all of the programming in the selected track, a t-shirt, and two meals. The event is presented and hosted by Genscape.
