Waterfront Park and Kentucky Science Center have partnered to create an outdoor experiential learning area called PlayPort at Waterfront Park. PlayPort pays homage to the Ohio River’s rich cultural and industrial heritage with authentic artifacts converted to play structures. PlayPort engages families and stimulates learning, creativity, collaboration, critical thinking, and imagination. Educational signage is integrated within the interactive exhibits, which include graphics, educational content on how the exhibits work, play prompts, and QR codes that lead to videos developed by Kentucky Science Center showing science concepts through simple hands-on activities that families and teachers can replicate.
In addition to PlayPort, this first phase of construction also includes a classroom/community meeting space, restroom building, and a parking lot.
