Theater Renovation FAQ
Why is the theater closed and what is being done?
Our four‑story theater & auditorium is temporarily closed March 1–31, 2026 for scheduled improvements to enhance the guest experience.
- New seating throughout the auditorium — for a total capacity of 195.
- Improved sightlines — the former front row has been removed to create a better viewing experience for every guest.
- A new central stage — added at the front of the auditorium with built‑in AV connections for presentations and special programming.
- New safety railing installed at the front of the screen for a cleaner look and enhanced guest safety.
- Screen professionally cleaned for brighter, sharper picture quality.
- New carpet installed throughout the theater for a fresher, more polished look and feel.
Is the rest of the Science Center open?
Yes! All exhibits, and experiences remain fully open.
When will the theater reopen?
The theater returns with “Horse Power” on Friday, April 3, 2026.
Are you changing the shows or schedule?
Full programming resumes in April. Showtimes will be posted on our website here.
Are you offering discounts while it is closed?
Admission still includes full access to all exhibits. Only the theater is temporarily unavailable and is a separate added cost.
Can school groups still visit in March?
Absolutely — field trips and group experiences continue. The theater is the only experience unavailable in March.
