Kentucky Science Center’s annual family-friendly Thunder Over Louisville event, ThunderBlast, returns this April with even more hands-on family fun. ThunderBlast offers riverside views of the Thunder Over Louisville air show and fireworks on April 22nd from the Science Center’s 8th and Washington Street parking lot, plus a host of exciting activities perfect for all ages. All proceeds from the event benefit the Science Center’s mission-driven programming and outreach efforts throughout the region.
ThunderBlast guests have access to all of Kentucky Science Center’s 50,000 square feet of fun throughout the day as well as exclusive entry to our fenced outdoor area with great views of the Thunder Over Louisville action. In addition, guests can enjoy dedicated food and beverage vendors, hands-on learning activities, a children’s play area, and access to clean indoor restrooms and water filling stations.
Families looking to take their ThunderBlast to the next level can take advantage of VIP Experience tickets. In addition to all the regular ThunderBlast fun, VIP Experience guests have exclusive access to a waterfront tented viewing area complete with tables, chairs, portable restrooms, and handwashing stations. Each VIP ticket also includes one voucher for use with any food vendor and two drink tickets.
New this year, families have the opportunity to purchase a discounted family 4-pack of tickets through March 1st. Available to any combination of adults and children, the family 4-pack offers additional savings off the regular ticket price for both members and non-members.
ThunderBlast guests can add-on documentary screenings in our 4-story theater to their ticket at the gate or by phone, including a 10:15PM showing of America’s Musical Journey. You’ll enjoy a joyful and exhilarating look at the roots of American music, from jazz to country to rock n’ roll – and miss out on all the late-night Thunder traffic, too!
“ThunderBlast is one of my favorite events,” says Kentucky Science Center Chief Executive Officer Mike Norman. “Not only is it thrilling to be part of a long Louisville tradition with Thunder Over Louisville, I love having the chance to Do Science with families from across the region in the midst of the incredible air show overhead. This year’s plans include exciting new food trucks and a revamped children’s play area – plus, as always, some of the best views of the fireworks in town.”
