Your Wild Backyard, Four Stories Tall

Beautiful Brand-New Documentary Film Opens at Kentucky Science Center

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – LOUISVILLE AND SURROUNDING AREAS – Kentucky Science Center’s four-story digital theater is among the first in the country to debut the newest film from Canadian film production company SK Films Inc.: Backyard Wilderness.

Backyard Wilderness follows Katie, part of a modern family distracted by their busy lives and electronic devices. Though they live nearby a wooded area, Katie and her family are blind to the diverse and incredible wilderness right outside their door. Throughout the course of the film, which spans a seasonal year, Katie gradually begins to experience the magic of nature in her own backyard.

Through stunning visuals and vivid cinematography, the audience is invited to share the joy Katie finds in each new discovery. Cameras mounted inside dens and nests reveal wildlife in breathtaking intimacy, while cameras moving along the forest floor and pond bottom give viewers the chance to see a perspective of the forest they’ve never before experienced.

”Backyard Wilderness is about discovery”, said Science Center Senior Manager of External Affairs, Gil Reyes. “We live busy lives in a technology-dependent society and sometimes we get tunnel vision. We forget that life enthusiastically goes on, in incredible diversity and beauty, right under our noses.”

Backyard Wilderness is playing regularly on Kentucky Science Center’s 4-Story Digital Screen throughout the Spring. With a runtime of 45 minutes, it’s perfect for families with children of all ages. Tickets are $8 per person for Kentucky Science Center members, or $10 per person for non-members.
