Inside MakerPlace
Who can participate in MakerPlace?
MakerPlace activities are generally designed for ages 8 and up with adult supervision. Kentucky Science Center staff will always be on hand to answer questions and provide guidance as you explore activities like soldering, circuitry, textile crafts, leatherwork, and so much more!
For children younger than 8, Science Depot in our 1st floor Science in Play exhibition explores many of the same principles and themes as MakerPlace, and is specifically designed for a younger audience.
MakerPlace exhibit vs. MakerPlace workshops
Our MakerPlace exhibit offers a variety of drop-in activities during regular Kentucky Science Center hours, with professional staff on hand to provide guidance. Front desk staff can provide information on the availability of MakerPlace during your visit.
During MakerPlace workshops, our experienced educators will dive deeper into a specific skill. These workshops require separate registration and typically last 1-2 hours. Most MakerPlace workshops also include a take-home element. You can find information on upcoming MakerPlace workshops here.
