MOVIE: Moonlight

Moonlight is a timeless story of human connection and self-discovery, Moonlight chronicles the life of a young black man from childhood to adulthood as he struggles to find his place in the world while growing up in a rough neighborhood of Miami.
Join us at 6PM to listen as Kentucky Science Center staffer Corey Thomas joins in conversation with UofL Professor Dr. Kaila Adia Story to discuss the black queer experience and the way that it is depicted on film. Moonlight begins at 7PM. Doors open at 5:30PM, and a cash bar will be available for ticketholders.

Kaila Adia Story is an award winning associate professor and podcaster. Dr. Story is dually appointment in the Departments of Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies and Pan-African Studies at the University of Louisville. She also holds the Audre Lorde Endowed Chair at the University of Louisville. Dr. Story is the co-creator, co-producer, and cohost of Louisville Public Media’s “Strange Fruit,” a popular and award-winning, 8 year-running podcast. Dr. Story was named an LGBTQ+ community leader and change maker as a part of NBC’s inaugural #Pride30. Recently, Dr. Story was chosen as the 2022 Champion of Pride for the state of Kentucky by The Advocate Magazine.
