Assembly Programs

Bring your whole school together to experience a high-energy science adventure with our superhero scientists: Captain Current or Ion Jones. Join them on an adventure through the exciting and sometimes explosive side of science learning. Choose to watch an interactive assembly show, do hands-on walk-up activities, or both for a full day of STEAM learning.

New this year, Kentucky Science Center’s assembly programs now come with even more chances for your students to Do Science. Each full day assembly program includes a free Kentucky Science Center ticket (a $23 value) for every participating student.

Bookings are full through April 2024, please feel free to request a program for May 2024 and beyond!

Captain Current

Learn about sources of energy, how energy is generated, and how to become better ambassadors of energy conservation.

In this high-voltage electricity program, Captain Current (Kentucky Science Center’s resident superhero), teaches participants all about how electricity is generated and recruits them to become Energy Saving Cadets. In addition to the electrifying assembly, participants can engage with ten hands-on activity stations, discovering how circuits work, how to stop Electricity Vampires, and which materials conduct electricity.

Ion Jones

Discover elements, compounds, reactions and more, and learn just how many ways chemistry impacts our everyday lives.

When Ion Jones visits your school or organization, participants join the adventure as Ion discovers elements, demonstrates chemical reactions, and breaks down chemistry concepts. Ion also brings ten hands-on activity stations, each designed to illustrate how chemistry pervades all aspects of life and just how many careers include chemistry. Participants conduct their own chemical reactions, use forensic science to solve a mystery, and use pH to distinguish between four identical liquids.
