Future S.T.E.M. Professionals Summit

Immersive, full-day workshop experiences for Middle and High School students. Empowering young adults in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) fields means arming them with the tools they need to bring their ideas and voices to the table; our Future S.T.E.M. Professionals Summits give teens the chance to interact with and learn from industry professionals.

Louisville

The Louisville Future S.T.E.M. Professionals Summit, now in its 8th year, is the premiere college prep event of the summer!

The Louisville Future S.T.E.M. Professionals Summit, now in its 8th year, is the premiere college prep event of the summer! The day kicks off at the Louisville HQ of international data and technology firm Genscape, and expands to include lab experiences in multiple downtown and Old Louisville locations. In addition to learning about local opportunities for S.T.E.M. careers, participants will interact with S.T.E.M. professionals, many of whom represent the top colleges and universities in the country! Join your peers for a day-long S.T.E.M.-focused event that puts you on track to becoming a leader of tomorrow.

 

High School
High School Tracks will be assigned on a first-come, first-served basis on the morning of June 16. If you would like to reserve a spot in any one particular track, email andrew.spence@louisvilleky.gov after purchasing a ticket. Reservations will be made until June 15 while slots remain.
Health Science Campus Track:

  • Morning Session with Amanda LeBlanc (B.S- Indiana University, M.S- University of Louisville, Ph.D.- West Virginia University) at the Cardiovascular Innovation Institute.
  • Afternoon Session with Jonathan Kopechek (B.S- Ohio State University, Ph.D.- University of Cincinnati) in the Bioengineering department.

Spalding Campus Track:

  • DNA sequencing computer lab and anatomy experience with professors including Jennifer Doyle (B.A- Xavier University, M.S & Ph.D.- University of Kentucky).
  • Afternoon lab session with Bellarmine Physics, Dr. Akhtar Mahmood (B.Sc- Edinboro University of Pennsylvania, MSc. & Ph.D.- State University of New York)

The Lexington Future S.T.E.M. Professionals Summit is the premiere college prep event of the summer! Join your peers for a day-long Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (S.T.E.M.) focused event that puts you on track to becoming a leader of tomorrow. Future S.T.E.M. Professionals Summits help match your big ideas to potential careers, programs, and fields of study. Featuring the always popular Reverse Science Fair and hands-on lab sessions for Middle Schoolers. Unique to this site, High Schoolers can try out the Tech-preneur track to experience product development and business solutions via Lexmark’s leadership.

MIDDLE SCHOOL S.T.E.M. TRACK
Experience interactive industry labs, a reverse science
fair, and activities such as learning to code, building
a robot, and exploring veterinary sciences.
A Middle School Girls in S.T.E.M. track is also available

HIGH SCHOOL TECH-PRENEUR TRACK
Add “entrepreneur” to your toolkit of S.T.E.M. skills
with the High School Tech-prenuer track: An exciting
day of innovating to solve a real-world problem, preparing a
business plan, and presenting a pitch to potential investors.

GEMS is designed to engage girls and their adult caregivers in S.T.E.M. content through a variety of hands-on experiences and activities!

Lunch and a T-shirt is included.
